iwork won't work

Apple is introducing a new productivity application dubbed iwork, and in my opinion it won't work. Don't get me wrong I love my mac. The graphics on the 20" screen are awesome, iphoto is cool, garage band is cooler, and the interface is the coolest. In my opinion, if Apple really wants too woo some new customers they need to bundle a real productivity suite with OSX. If you buy a mac, your gonna pay a whole lot more than you would for a comparable PC. Of course, the hardware is in a category of it's own and OSX is one of the best operating systems out there, but for people to shell out that extra cash, they need to be able to work with the product, not just play. I'm not forgetting about Office for mac. It is a wonderful product. I am just saying for the extra price you pay for a mac you should be able to be productive right out of the box, and your documents and presentations should work seamlessly with the king of all office products, Microsoft Office. I think introducing the new mac mini is a step in the right direction too, (with it's $499.00 starting price). Of course you have to add your own keyboard, mouse, and monitor, but its a start. And the Apple IPod has generated quite a stir, so as a whole apple is traveling in the right direction, but a product has to be as useful as it is stylish and fun. So if your listening Steve Jobs "Make a mac productive and make it work seamless with Office right out of the box and you'll have a winner."

Spend your time wisely

If you are looking for a worthwhile cause to devote your time to, look no further than Project Gutenberg. It is the oldest producer of free electronic books on the internet. They take books that are out of copyright and scan them or type them in by hand to make them freely available on the internet. All it takes is a couple of minutes to sign up, and you can start proofreading pages to help the cause. If thats not your thing, you can burn cd's of the content for people without internet access. It really is a worthwhile cause.....and here is the link: www.gutenberg.org/
